Newport, Gourmet Series Gas Grill

Amazon.com

Offering 162 square inches of grilling area--just right for grilling up to eight large hamburgers--the Magna Newport marine gas grill makes a finely crafted addition to your boat. The Newport is made of 100-percent 18-9 mirror-polished stainless steel for lasting beauty and superior corrosion resistance. The grill cooks quickly and evenly thanks to the dual-radiant-plate heat distribution system, which runs off of disposable 1-pound propane cylinders or onboard LPG (propane) or CNG (natural gas) systems. Best of all, the grill mounts securely to your boat's fishing rod holder (mounts sold separately), so you can grill safely and efficiently even when the ocean gets a little bumpy.

The Newport grill isn't just boat bound, however, as it includes stainless-steel foldaway legs that lets you take the grill to the shore. And to improve your grilling performance, the Newport's full-size inner safety shell funnels grease into a front-access grease tray, which reduces flare-up and heat discoloration. Other features include a 9-by-18-inch cooking grill with tightly spaced grid struts; reliable Piezo crystal ignition; an oversized, perfectly balanced locking lid; a full-length handle accessible from either side; a swiveling valve regulator; a warming rack; and a secondary grilling area.

The Newport marine grill mounts to your boat's fishing rod holder.

About Magma Products
Magma traces its history back to 1976, when California sailors and identical twins Jim and Jerry Mashburn grew frustrated trying to attach grills to their boat. After several porcelain metal grills quickly rusted out, the twins set out to make a stainless-steel grill that could withstand the hardships of a saltwater environment. More than 30 years later, Magma's familiar stainless-steel grill can be seen from Newport to New South Wales, from Cape Cod to Cape Horn, from the South of France to San Francisco. The original charcoal grill is still available, but is now complemented with several round and rectangular propane models. Magma also sells mounting devices to accommodate all possible boating needs, tables to help with prepping and serving, umbrellas for shade, and anti-roll devices to steady the boat while you enjoy your favorite meal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Grill on the Market. Skip the Rest. Get the Best!, September 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)

I tried another stainless boat grill made by another company and the regulator was garbage. This grill is better for a number of reasons. The flexibility in mounting options, the legs are handy, the regulator is solid (as is the ignitor), and the tray accessory is a must-have! This is easy to clean and fun to use. It gets hot pretty fast. I can cook at least 6 large burgers at time and they don't take long. I also had zero issues with the flame blowing out due to wind like with some other manufacturer's product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Quality - Great Looking - Good Cooking, December 4, 2011

If you are looking for portable barbeque for your house, park or in my case RV this is it. Yes they are expensive....really expensive....and WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!

I am sick and tired of crappy cheap barbeques and in the end you spend more on them by throwing them away. These are well supported by Magma and they have cool accessories.

Pay the money, get the what you really want and never look back.

PROS: Almost everything about it.

CONS: You gotta make sure you don't forget its lit and overheat the stainless steel. Some of the grease that has fallen on the bottom may leak when you tip and store it on its side like I do to store in my motorhome compartment. Not a big deal, just be aware so you set on something that can capture the little bit of leakage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, burner and heat deflector don't age well., December 4, 2011
This review is from: Magma Newport Gourmet Series Gas Grill (Sports)
Owned for four years; used two to four times a week.

I've been very happy with two exceptions: the burner and heat deflector have needed replacing twice, and the igniter died after a year. As the burner ages, all the flame starts to come out of one end; this gets progressively worse. The heat deflector warps and decays where it gets hottest. So, as the burner ages it exacerbates the decay of the heat deflector.

Heat deflector and burner are easy to change (~60$ for the pair).

All other components have aged very well.

Rail mounts very well. I had this on an exposed railing for 2 years. It was solid. It didn't need tightening or adjusting once.

Built in legs are sufficient. I've had this on its legs for 2 years. It's sturdy and doesn't wobble.

Does not blow out in any wind.

Gets hot enough to sear steak easily.

Can cook for 4 easily... more would be tight.
